IPTS chief ‘must give account’

Councillors unwilling to let resignation go unchallenged

DO not let him go until he answers the allegations against him – this is the feeling among political parties in the Nelson Mandela Bay council, following the resignation of bus system boss Mhleli Tshamase.

Since he had resigned on Tuesday, the municipality said, it would not be able to proceed with a disciplinary hearing against him.

However, municipal spokesman Mthubanzi Mniki said the city could still proceed with the investigation and pursue other legal processes against Tshamase if there was evidence to “lead us to that direction”.

Opposition councillors believe that simply letting him resign would leave too many questions unanswered. -Rochelle de Kock
