Thirteen children and their driver were fortunate to escape serious injury when the Ford Bantam bakkie they were in was impaled on a large forklift vehicle in Lancaster Street, in Port Elizabeth’s North End, yesterday.

Five of the children, being taken home from school, incurred minor injuries and were treated at Livingstone Hospital.

The rest were sent home.

WHO DRIVES A FORKLIFT IN THE STREET WITH THE FORKS SET SO HIGH?????? Or do we only have half the story here? Was it busy loading a truck and the driver of the bakkie was impatient or stupid and did not wait for the area to be cleared before passing!
