Parents shut Arcadia High

PARENTS fed up about a teacher shortage and up to 70 pupils crammed into a classroom, closed down Arcadia High School in Port Elizabeth yesterday.

They have vowed to keep the gates padlocked until their demand for more teachers is met.

Parents, pupils and teachers protested outside the school with placards pleading with the Department of Education to appoint more teachers at the school in Port Elizabeth’s northern areas.
