SCHOOL SARDINE RUN

A local taxi driver was heavily fined yesterday for his vehicle, packed with high school pupils, being overloaded.

The Toyota Quantum was pulled over by traffic officers at the intersection of Dyke and Ditchling streets in Algoa Park with 29 Cillie High School pupils packed into it, some on top of each other.

The vehicle – in immaculate condition – is certified to carry 14 passengers and the driver.

The 33-year-old driver was fined R4 200.
