Probe into Big Brother rape claim

M-Net has appointed the services of a private investigator to look into a sexual assault claim made by one of the contestants.

The pay broadcaster has enlisted the services of Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr law firm to investigate and establish what transpired between two housemates over the weekend.

The contestants were removed after a claim of sexual misconduct was made. The female contestant was removed for her safety and according to reports, made a claim of alleged rape against the male contestant who was expelled.

A statement issued by M-Net says it will independently investigate what exactly happened.

“It’s necessary for (us) to understand what transpired. And we will take necessary action, if required, once the investigation is concluded. I really do need to stress this point: we are not in possession of all the facts. We do have a lot of footage, which we are currently going through,” said Yolisa Phahle, M-Net CEO.
