Former parliamentary leader of the Democratic Alliance Lindiwe Mazibuko will not be in the running to take over the reins from DA leader Helen Zille, it was announced on Monday (13/04/15).
There had been speculation that Mazibuko would return to South Africa from the United States to run as a candidate for DA Leader at our party’s Federal Congress in Port Elizabeth next month.
However, Mazibuko stated that she “will not be making myself available for the election to any leadership post at the DA’s 2015 congress. Rather, I will be watching and supporting my friends, colleagues and fellow democrats from across the Atlantic.”
She also took to social media to make her announcement.
Mazibuko on Monday released a statement that praised Helen Zille for her various accolades as the Democratic Alliance’s (DA) leader since 2007.
Zille made the announcement that she would be stepping down yesterday (12/04).
