Rhodes will fall, UCT council decides

THE statue of Cecil John Rhodes at the University of Cape Town is on its way out.
The decision was made last night by a meeting of the UCT council that was disrupted by protesters.
It was decided the Rhodes statue would be moved temporarily, pending a final decision on its fate.
A group from the Rhodes Must Fall movement, demanding a date for the statue’s removal, entered the meeting, forcing its adjournment.
Council members were prevented from leaving the room in Mowbray by protesters singing struggle songs and standing on tables.
The meeting was forced to reconvene by the students, who imposed a 10-minute deadline, and members voted to move the stat
