A MUSICAL tribute in the form of a video dedicated to talented Nelson Mandela Bay DJ Neelan Munnick, 19, who died late last year, will air on Channel O, MTV and Trace at the end of the month.
The track, J’adore, is the second music video associated with Munnick, who was also known as 4our7 (Four Seven), to air on international television.
The first, On The Wall, which featured Twins on Deck, was aired in December.
The popular youngster was tragically killed in a car accident a few blocks from his home just before midnight on December 9.
Co-producer of the music video Blayne Phillips, 23, from Bojar Events, said planning for the music video started in November and it was shot on location in and around Port Elizabeth two weeks ago.
“The video is three minutes long and serves as a tribute to Neelan and what he meant to us, his friends and family and to all music lovers,” he said.
“The video took us one day to shoot and shows scenes of Tiffany [Oosthuizen] singing on the beach, his [Munnick’s] brother Sean walking on the pier and Neelan doing what he loved most, which was making music,” Phillips said.
Prior to Munnick’s death, he and Phillips had already started developing the concept for the video. After the accident, Phillips vowed to finish the project in honour of Munnick.
He got in touch with Johannesburg-based recording studio Soul Candi, whose Kyle White then produced and directed the video.
Besides his love of music, Munnick also had his sights set on a career in the construction industry and was already enrolled to study civil engineering at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University next year.
