POLICE have arrested the driver of the Mercedes-Benz involved in the hit-and-run death of a popular engineering student and model in Port Elizabeth on Sunday night (15/03/15).
Police spokeswoman Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said that the driver was contacted by detectives and asked to come into Humewood Police Station this morning (18/03/15).
“Police contacted him yesterday and requested he come to the police station in the morning,” she said. “He arrived at the station and was subsequently arrested. He will be appearing in court today.”
Jean-Louis Matthee, 22, was killed at the intersection of Forest Hill and La Roche drives at about 10pm on Sunday night when the motorcycle he was riding collided with the Mercedes-Benz.
