Plum job for failed Makana official

Bay municipality takes on manager who faces possible probe

AMUNICIPAL official who failed to keep the taps running in Grahamstown has landed himself a cushy job with the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality. Emmanuel Thembinkosi Myalato was about to be suspended by Makana municipal administrator Pam Yako last month for failing to carry out his duties.

Instead, he resigned and took up a position as a manager in the Bay municipality’s roads, stormwater and transportation directorate.

The metro itself was hit with water shortages last month in large parts of the city, with thousands of households and businesses having to contend with no water.

Myalato was the director of Makana Municipality’s infrastructure and engineering services for almost three years.

Yako was appointed in October to chart a plan to correct the massive systemic problems faced by the broke municipality, including a major water crisis.

Typical Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality! Jobs for the boys! He better not get too comfortable because he will out next year when the Democratic Alliance takes over!
