Bread deliverymen nabbed for theft of lemons

SONY DSCTWO bread deliverymen from Port Elizabeth were arrested yesterday after allegedly attempting to steal 28 bags of lemons, valued at R9 000, after hiding them behind bread crates inside a truck.

The arrest came after the Blue Ribbon employees were allegedly spotted stealing the lemons from a farm in Addo.

The delivery truck was searched on the Addo Road at about 5.20am, police Warrant Officer Basil Seekoei said. “The crates of bread had been moved to the front of the truck while 28 large bags packed with lemons had been stashed behind them.

The men, aged 32 and 35, were arrested, and the truck confiscated, he said.
