Metro allocated resources to address service delivery demands
NELSON Mandela Bay’s public purse is set for a cash injection worth billions of rands from the national Treasury to address its service delivery demands.
Finance Minister Nhlanhla Nene gave the Bay an equitable share of R774.6-million out of the R7.7-billion allocated to Eastern Cape municipalities.
This is an increase of about R13-million on last year’s slice of the pie and excludes grants allocated for various capital projects.
In his first budget speech, Nene said allocations for basic service to municipalities were prioritised, despite budgetary constraints.
