“I have done all of the Bellbuoy Challenges,” he said of the 5km ocean race, which was started in 2010. “This time around, while I was swimming, I thought about how great it was that we could still swim without fearing shark attacks.”
The proposed development will see the construction of a 6km-wide fish farm about 2.5km offshore from Hobie Beach.
“If you really need to have a fish farm, why can’t you do it far from the beach?” West said.
