Motherwell councillor Thembile Nkosiyapantsi fears for his life and the safety of his family after his office was set alight and his vehicle trashed in the early hours of yesterday.

The attack on his Bunyuluzi Street office was the second in two years. Police are investigating a case of arson.

The Ward 57 councillor said he received a phone call at about 1am yesterday from security company ADT, informing him his office was on fire.

“I rushed out of my house to my van and I saw that all the doors of my van were open and the rear window was smashed.

“It shows you are not safe anywhere,” he said.
