The Kouga municipality has stated that the electricity for sections of Wavecrest, Jeffreys Bay, is off due to a cable fault.
The cable is underground and specialised equipment is required to unearth it.
The municipality’s electricity department is currently in the process of obtaining this equipment, following which the cable will be dug up to find and repair the fault.
Repairs are likely to take all day.
However, the municipality is looking at implementing a loadshedding type system in Wavecrest while work is underway.
This means the available power will be diverted to different sections of Wavecrest to prevent any one area from being without electricity for too long.
