Three brothers could share a cell for the next decade after the Port Elizabeth Regional Court sentenced them to jail for robbing a Lovemore Heights home more than six years ago.
The Dyamani brothers, Ayanda, 25, Luthando, 28, and Melikhaya, 29, were each sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment, while co-accused Sakhile Mbombosi, 22, received an eight-year sentence for a robbery that left a family so traumatised they decided to emigrate.
Along with a fifth accused, Thandolwethu Jack, who turned state witness, the culprits identified a house and studied the residents meticulously before forcing their way into the home in September 2008.
The robbers stole electronic goods worth about R150 000.
Luthando Dyamani is already serving a 12-year sentence for another robbery he was convicted of in 2012, and 30 months of yesterday’s sentence will run concurrently.
