New task team a pointless exercise: ex-mayor.
Former Nelson Mandela Bay mayor Zanoxolo Wayile has hit out at the ANC, saying its new task team was a pointless exercise by people who had either failed to root out alleged corruption in Nelson Mandela Bay or were the cause of it.
In an interview yesterday, Wayile singled out Eastern Cape ANC secretary Oscar Mabuyane as the man who derailed his efforts to clean up corruption and stop undue political interference in the metro.
But Mabuyane yesterday labelled Wayile a bitter soul who was still angry about being ousted as Bay mayor and later an MP.
In 2013, Wayile was fired as Nelson Mandela Bay mayor by President Jacob Zuma and was moved to parliament, where he failed to return, following last year’s national election.
