Embattled Afrikaans singer Sunette Bridges has spurned an olive branch from the SA Human Rights Commission and the Equality Court to resolve amicably a hate speech case brought against her by the watchdog.

Bridges is Afrikaans singer Bles Bridges’ daughter and a prominent member of the “Red October” movement which seeks to publicise what it calls “white genocide”.

SAHRC chairman Lourence Mushwana mounted the legal challenge against Bridges in the Equality Court after receiving complaints about racist content on her Facebook pages over the past few years.

Urged to settle out of court, Advocate Paul Kruger said Bridges wanted it proved that the offending content was actually gleaned from her legitimate Facebook profile.
