Darren’s baby’s cells frozen

Singer, wife keen to give daughter every chance.

Kurt Darren, singer of Kaptein, and his wife Dunay have stored their first child’s stem cells, believing that stockpiling these cells may help with baby Kyrah’s future health.

The Darrens have signed up with Cryo-Save, a Pretoria company which is part of the Cryo-Save stem cell group, which provides a service to the growing number of parents who are choosing to store their baby’s stem cells for private use.

For more than a decade, it has been possible to store a baby’s umbilical cord blood stem cells at birth for future medical use later in the life of the child, or even possibly that of a family member.
