TWO court battles are looming this week in the long-running dispute over late former president Nelson Mandela’s home in the Eastern Cape.
In one, Madiba’s eldest grandson, Mandla Mandela, is preparing to fight moves by Winnie Madikizela-Mandela to stop a family meeting scheduled for this Friday.
Madiba’s former wife is also trying get an interdict to deny Mandla free access to Mandela’s Qunu home.
AbaThembu royal family spokesman Daludumo Mtirara said its legal teams were also opposing Madikizela-Mandela’s application. Mandla said: “Normally, I do not comment publicly on family matters, including the ownership claim of the Qunu home.
“But yes, our lawyers are filling opposing papers.”
Mtirara said: “According to our culture, she [Madikizela- Mandela] is out of line.”
