Despatch cops arrest murder suspect
Effective policing skills contributed to the speedy arrest of a 39-year-old suspect on a charge of murder.
The victim, Adriaan Minus, 22, arrived home in Tarentaal Street, Despatch, at about 5.45 last night with a stab wound in his chest.
He was rushed to the Uitenhage Provincial Hospital and died a few hours later.
Detectives from SAPS Despatch worked through the night in search of leads and apprehended the suspect shortly before 11am this morning.
He will appear in the Uitenhage Magistrate’s Court tomorrow on a charge of murder.
Despatch acting station commander Capt Flippie de Jager praised the detectives for their excellent work.
“I commend their efforts. They traced the suspect less than 24 hours after the crime was committed,” he said.
