A BOEING 737 crashed at the Port Elizabeth Airport yesterday, killing 26 people and injuring 46 others.

Luckily, it was just a drill so that emergency services could be put through their paces for a mock plane crash.

For the drill the plane crashed at 10.40am, with 100 passengers and six crew on board.

The emergency services who played roles included fire department officials, police, air force members, municipal ambulances and medics.

They all raced to the scene when they got the distress call.

Police spokesman Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said: “These exercises just allows us to ensure we are all up to date with what to do.” -Gareth Wilson
