Protest action once again flared up in the Walmer Township area, seeing Victoria drive and Heugh road being blocked by protesters earlier this morning.

Police managed to push back the group with rubber bullets and stun grenades by 9am.

The main road was reopened shortly afterwards,  but police are still monitoring the situation.

The protest seems to have moved closer to the township as residents started burning tyres in Fountain Avenue. This is a developing story -The Herald
