Body found off Wild Coast thought to be that of missing American student

A body fitting the description of the missing American student‚ who was reported to have drowned while swimming on the Wild Coast on Sunday August 30‚ was discovered on Friday afternoon.

According to police the body was spotted 5km from where the student allegedly went for a swim. This breakthrough was achieved through a combined effort by the SAPS Search and Rescue team and a private helicopter.

A police helicopter was sent to the scene to help with the recovery of the body from where it was last seen.

“More information will be supplied as the search and rescue team provides new updates and developments‚” Lt Khaya Tonjeni said.
