THE man accused of shooting schoolteacher Jayde Panayiotou is in need of a new lawyer.

This follows alleged hitman Sizwezakhe Vumazonke’s lawyer, Anne Swanepoel, being struck off the roll of attorneys after a court found she had stolen R90 000 from a client and his counsel.

Swanepoel was Faeez Ching’s attorney when he was accused of shooting dead his wife, Yan Huo-Ching, at their Port Elizabeth home in 2005.

At the time, Swanepoel told Ching she required at least R130 000 from him and this would include R100 000 for Advocate Terry Price SC.

Ching had immediately paid R50 000 and a friend of his paid R90 000 cash soon afterwards.

Swanepoel had never deposited the cash in her trust account as required, but had instead placed it in her safe and later used it for her personal needs.

She had then failed to pay Price his fee and he issued summons against her for R64 000 in outstanding fees in 2005.

Swanepoel borrowed money to pay him back.

Ching also sued her for the balance of R56 000 that she had not used during the trial.
