A SERIOUS and somewhat famous “breker” of the do-good kind, Knysna’s Andre van Zijl, is in Port Elizabeth to break yet another record, while helping people to break one of their toughest habits – smoking.

The 66-year-old man, who has achieved fame and acclaim across South Africa for breaking and setting unusual new records, while collecting vast sums of money for various charities, rolled into the Bay yesterday – on his bicycle – from Jeffreys Bay.

His latest mission is to plaster a million anti-smoking posters and stickers on walls and doors across the country, with the primary aim of protecting non-smokers from exposure to smoke and secondly, to encourage smokers to quit. -Shaun Gillham
