Mayor wants a ‘dashboard’ to coordinate development projects in the Bay

IMAGINE, for a second, a different Nelson Mandela Bay municipality where the left hand actually knows what the right hand is doing. The answer, at least in mayor Danny Jordaan’s mind, is simple.

Much like a business, he wants the municipality to have a single “dashboard” – that goto place which keeps track of progress, or lack of it, for every major economic development project in the city.

Be it the proposed fish farm, the Nooitgedacht water scheme or the Motherwell urban renewal project, Jordaan has tasked his councillors to begin talks with municipal entities, state agencies and business to thrash out how to coordinate the development and functioning of such projects. -Nwabisa Makunga
