Kids in jail starved, kept from facilities

“Yes, he was bad but he is a child. Children can’t be treated like this. They have rights.” The inspectorate’s report revealed: ý Children in a large number of prisons were fed breakfast more than 14 hours after their last meal;

  • There are no educational or recreational facilities for children awaiting trial, with no access to libraries;
  • Few children receive information on how to appeal against their sentences; and
  • Few children can access counselling following their admission.
