U'hage war memorial: two women arrested

TWO women believed to have thrown white paint over the Uitenhage War Memorial statue on Sunday were arrested this afternoon (24/06/15).

Both women – aged 28 and 29 years – live in Uitenhage and were arrested after a tip off to police.

The women are expected to appear in court on Friday.

The war memorial statue situated in Uitenhage’s market square has been vandalised for a second time at the weekend.

In April this year . However, the party has distanced itself from the latest incident.

Earlier this year a series of statues throughout South Africa were defaced by the EFF members, including the and , which stands in front of the public library in Port Elizabeth.
