Woman gang raped in Tsitsikamma

A woman was gang raped in broad daylight after being abducted while jogging in the Tsitsikamma area along the Garden Route on Sunday afternoon.

The 47-year-old woman, who cannot be named due to being a victim of rape, was jogging on a road in Storms River,Tsitsikamma, when she was overpowered by two men and dragged into the bushes alongside the road.

Within 8 hours of the ordeal, police had arrested the two men believed to have been responsible for the rape.

The suspects will appear in the Storms River Magistrates Court on 17 June 2015 on rape charges.

The Humansdorp Cluster Commander, Brigadier Neil Jantjies commended the detectives for speedily tracking down and arresting the suspects. “Crimes against women and children are a priority for the SAPS and we will leave no stone unturned, when investigating such cases”, he said. - Gareth Wilson
