Mayor gives residents say on draft budget

RESIDENTS of Nelson Mandela Bay’s vast Ward 41 want the city to allocate the bulk of its proposed R70-million budget for the area to building more RDP houses and for relocation.

This emerged at an integrated development plan and draft budget public participation meeting in Nkandla informal settlement in Joe Slovo yesterday.

The ward comprises Joe Slovo, Booysen Park, Chatty, Bloemendal, Bethelsdorp, KwaDwesi Extension, Westville North, Daleview Extension and parts of Uitenhage and Despatch.

Mayor Danny Jordaan told residents the metro could not finalise the budget without speaking to them.
