Housing crisis in metro exposed

Security stepped up for officials after tension and threats in key municipal department

EXPLOSIVE allegations of a complex web of corruption, collusion and threats involving millions of rands’ worth of tenders to build RDP houses have been revealed.

This is believed to have prompted minister Lindiwe Sisulu’s decision to take over the running of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’s human settlements department.

The intervention is expected to finally crack what has for several years been a seemingly untouchable, money-guzzling part of the metro often mired in endless allegations, fear, secrecy and power struggles.
