Surfer rescued after treading water for two hours

A surfer was rescued by rescue workers at Camps Bay beach near Cape Town on Sunday after treading water for more than two hours after being forced off his surf board by a strong current.

The 34-year-old man‚ who was not identified‚ was surfing with two friends when the incident occurred. The friends headed for shore and phoned for help.

ER24 and the National Sea Rescue Institute responded to the call and rescued the man after a lengthy search.

“Tears of joy were uttered when the man’s family arrived on the scene and found that he has alive and well‚” ER24 said.
