Here’s one honest man who is prepared to pay back the money

A RETIRED businessman hit the jackpot – or could have if he was not so honest – when he found a wad of cash protruding from an ATM cash dispenser.

Port Elizabeth resident Hans van de Haar, 57, said his first thought when he saw the money was that it was his lucky day – but then his conscience got the better of him.

He is now trying desperately to track down the owner of the fairly substantial amount.

Van de Haar, of Park Drive, was strolling through a shopping centre in Walmer with his daughter, Louise, 24, when he found the money at the weekend.

“I heard a beeping sound as I passed the ATM and, to me, it sounded like someone had struck the jackpot at the casino,” he said. For the full story get your copy of The Herald today. -Amir Chetty
