Wealthy passengers demanding city become a ‘must stop’ on world cruises
PORT Elizabeth is back on the map when it comes to international cruising, with the 345-metre British beauty, Queen Mary 2, berthing in the bay yesterday as part of the final stretch of a four-month world tour.
Owners the Cunard Line will bring two more magnificent transatlantic ocean liners – the Queen Victoria and the Queen Elizabeth – to the port of Port Elizabeth in the first quarter of next year.
Joining well-heeled passengers from around the world on the QM2 – the biggest and most luxurious passenger liner yet to dock in Port Elizabeth and the flagship of the line – is former president F W de Klerk, who embarked in Port Elizabeth yesterday and will deliver a lecture today.
