Moms thank God as kids survive shooting chaos

WHILE one mother was mourning the death of her adult son at the weekend, two other mothers whose children were injured outside Sanctor Primary School on Friday were thanking God their children were still alive.

Chaos erupted on Friday afternoon when a 22-year-old man was gunned down in his car in front of shocked pupils and parents in Coleus Crescent, Bethelsdorp.

Nezmy Titus, who died on the scene, lost control of his white Volkswagen Polo and crashed into two other cars before his vehicle came to a standstill. In the process, two nine-year-old Sanctor Primary pupils, running for cover after they heard the gunshots, were injured when the Polo hit them.

Grade 4 pupil Perican Malgas’s leg was broken while Grade 3 pupil Zenande January sustained bruises and cuts. “We can only thank God for saving our children,” Zenande’s mother, Zoleka January, said.
