Out to improve lives of pupils
Principal making strides at Kwazakhele school
MANDISI Mvimbeli, the principal of Qaphelani Senior Secondary School, is no ordinary teacher.
He is a principled leader with a big heart who takes the education of children – particularly those from previously disadvantaged communities – seriously.
Since his arrival at the Kwazakhele school in March 2012, the father of three has made huge strides in his bid to bring about a turnaround at the once-troubled institution.
Discipline, coupled with an improved pass rate of more than 50%, bears testimony to his leadership skills.
In 2013, Mvimbeli referred a Grade 11 pupil to a drug rehabilitation centre in Cape Town for treatment.
