New suburb in Bay’s west

National developer backs expansion in PE

A NEW R4-billion mixed-use residential suburb at Parson’s Vlei in Port Elizabeth’s western region is set to be officially launched by a national property developer.

The Amdec Group, which developed the landmark Melrose Arch precinct in the north of Johannesburg, revealed yesterday it had already started developing its 128-hectare Parson’s Vlei site, which will result in the creation of a new residential suburb named Westbrook.

Westbrook, which will house 3 500 new homes and an additional 1 000 retirement homes based on the company’s Evergreen retirement village concept, is expected to complement the nearby R1.7-billion Baywest Mall, construction of which is nearing completion.

Adding to the rapid westward expansion of Port Elizabeth has been the establishment of several new commercial properties in the nearby Greenbushes area in recent years.
