SA’s 25 most wanted named

In an effort to clamp down on rampant crime and encourage communities nationwide to help root out dangerous criminals who live among them, police have released a list of South Africa’s 25 “most wanted” felons.

On this national list, two suspects are from the Eastern Cape and both are wanted for murder in Motherwell, Port Elizabeth, while a third is from the Mossel Bay area.

The two Eastern Cape suspects are Shadreck Guveya, who has been on the run since 2012, and Mtinta Tererai who has been in hiding since 2006.

Also on the list is Ziyad Johardien, who was convicted on two counts of child rape in Mossel Bay in 2010 but failed to appear in court for sentencing. Johardien has been on the run since.

National police spokesman Lieutenant-General Solomon Makgale said it was in the interests of justice to ensure all those on the wanted list were put behind bars.

“Most of the criminals on these lists are repeat offenders and are known to the police.

“At the end of the day, we want all law-abiding citizens to sleep peacefully at night without worrying about crime,” he said.
