THE Herald readers have voted – and the public figure they most loved to hate, for the second year in a row, is Jacob Zuma.
The president, who spent much of 2014 ducking the public protector’s ruling that he pay for luxury additions to his rural Nkandla home in KwaZulu-Natal, successfully defends the title he took as the newspaper’s first Hooligan of the Year last year.
It was really no contest. Readers chose him way over 11 other local and national figures nominated by The Herald editorial staff, with 60.3% of the total reader votes cast on the SMS voting line – 290 out of 481 – going to Zuma.
