FUN for everyone, fascinating history and a large variety of interesting animals are all part of the Bayworld experience.
Among the many attractions at the popular marine complex on the Port Elizabeth beachfront are the baby seals. There are also seal shows at 11am and 3pm daily.
There is an army of penguins to be seen, bathing and relaxing inside their enclosure, and visitors may watch them being fed three times a day.
Bayworld’s aquarium has many different species: little ones have great fun looking for Nemo and his fishy friends, while the Knysna seahorse is always worth looking out for.
Upon entering the museum, visitors are greeted by an impressive dinosaur display replicating the many fascinating species to have walked the earth aeons ago.
The interactive dinosaur display will put the entire family at the centre of their own Jurassic Parkexperience.
The models of the raptor and a relative of the tyrannosaurus rex give visitors a sense of the scale of these legendary hunters. The fun, however, does not stop there as this exhibit has sensors causing these predators to come alive, or close to it at least.
Next up is the reptile park with its two vicious-looking Nile crocodiles and an entire room dedicated to some of the world’s most dangerous snakes. Visitors will see everything from massive constrictors to some of the most poisonous snakes found in South Africa.
The museum has a rich history and character, with an assortment of exhibitions and attractions. Contact Bayworld on (041)584-0650. – Deon van der Walt
