Hair-raising walks start tonight

ROSE Trehaeven knows every nook and cranny of historical Central Hill – and that includes its spooky presences...

Trehaeven, a historian, has since 1994 been leading her night walks through the historical heart of the city, stopping at spots that are notorious for ghostly activity.

Her hair-raising two-hour tour is an annual institution in December and January as she shares stories while exploring the eerie corners of this fascinating part of the city.

Trehaeven, 81, takes her groups along two main routes – a Donkin route or else her Bird Street/Cuyler Street route, depending on the weather and the size of the group.

Walkers meet for the tour and then also finish up at The Club (previously the Port Elizabeth St George's Club) at 12 Bird Street, where secure parking is available.

The walks start at 7.30pm and there is one tonight and again on December 22, January 5 and January 7. The cost is R60 for adults and R40 for scholars. For more information, contact Rose on (041)583-2584 or 084-261-3882. – Louise Liebenberg
