'Gangsters' murder casedelayed

THREE alleged gangsters accused of murder appeared briefly in the Port Elizabeth High Court yesterday before the matter was postponed to September next year.

The state claims Vernon Damons, 24, of Salt Lake, and Deon Harmse, 18, and Keenen Liberty, 26, both of Bethelsdorp, are members of the Kakmaker gang operating in Port Elizabeth's notorious northern areas.

The three are accused of the murder of Kell Amglin Kruger on September 18 2011 and the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.

According to the charge sheet, the men chased Kruger across a field in Chrysanthemum Street and fired shots, fatally wounding him.

Police arrived at the scene and the accused were subsequently arrested.
