Robber shoot man inside North End shop

POLICE have arrested four armed robbers who shot and wounded a man inside a shop in North End during a robbery at about 7:30pm this evening (15/10/14).

After the shooting and robbery the four men fled on foot when responding police officers spotted them moments later. Several shots were fired at police during their escape however neither the robbers or officers were injured.

A search of the area was conducted and three robbers were found hiding in a nearby street while another was caught hiding near Sidon Road between the dolosse on the beach.

Currently the K9 unit, Flying Squad and Mount Road police are searching the area for the firearms which the robbers are believed to have thrown away while being chased.

One firearm has since been recovered hidden in the nearby shrubs in Sidon Road.

The injured man from the shop has been taken to hospital and his condition is unknown.

The forensic unit and detectives are currently at the shop gathering evidence.
