North End fire ruins new buisness

A PORT Elizabeth woman’s month-old business in North End was ruined within minutes after a fire broke out in her small shop and take-away this afternoon.

Two fire engines responded to the fire, which broke out after 4pm and quickly doused the blaze on the small premises in South Street.

Neighbouring business owners, including Angelo Moodley from AMKA paints and coatings, had seen the smoke pouring out from a chimney attached to the building and had rushed over with fire extinguishers to tackle the flames before calling the fire department.
