LOVED by man and beast, Linda-Louise Swain, 54, believes cruelty should have no place in society. Swain, of Walmer, is an accomplished drama personality and a fierce opposer of cruelty to animals.
She was nominated for the 2014 Herald GM Citizen of the Year award for the many lives she has touched while fighting for the rights of abused and neglected animals, and at the same time using drama as a tool to help people communicate about other issues that matter, like HIV/Aids.
While her nomination came as a pleasant surprise to her, she embraced the spotlight for “the team”. “The difference I make in society, I make in a team,” she said, “whether it is on stage, during a dipathon, a spayathon, or making sure that abused animals are saved.”
