New Brighton, Kwazakhele crime hotspots

NEW Brighton and Kwazakhele are Nelson Mandela Bay’s most dangerous hotspots, according to the latest crime statistics released on Friday.

The high number of murders, robberies and hijackings tell a tale of crime-ridden areas where the police are losing the war against crime.

New Brighton takes the lead with 103 murders over the past year while Kwazakhele has had 83 killings.

In both areas, murder figures have increased from April 2012 to March last year when New Brighton had 79 murders and Kwazakhele had a body count of 71.

Port Elizabeth's gang-ridden northern areas, however, cannot be ruled out. Their figures are split between two police stations, portraying the crime in those areas as low.
