Police react to social media criticism

POLICE top brass in Nelson Mandela Bay have dismissed social media allegations of widespread corruption among police ranks following an internal probe.

“Not all police officers are corrupt,” the high-ranking officers said in response to many claims made against operational officers on networks.

This came to light after a high-level internal weekly crime meeting between senior officers yesterday, where management said Nelson Mandela Bay residents were complaining about fraud and corruption on social media networks as opposed to reporting it to authorities.

This prompted police to issue appeals to residents to report all allegations of bribery and corruption via the official channels.

Are the police so pathetic that the public at large have to do their job and report on corrupt officers in their rank?
