THE largest provider of low-cost housing in Nelson Mandela Bay, Willie Greeff Construction, has donated the time and skills of up to 30 project managers and artisans to assist with Project Sparkle, an ambitious volunteer project to refurbish the city’s crumbling state hospitals.

Willie Greeff said he immediately knew he wanted to help when he read an article about Project Sparkle, an initiative of the Just1HR campaign, in The Herald two weeks ago. “We see this as an opportunity to do something that will assist the community as a whole,” Greeff said.

“We work in disadvantaged communities and I always considered it imperative to help where we can,” he said.

Greeff said he was excited to get involved with a project to restore a building – Provincial Hospital – that once was one of the “crown jewels” of Port Elizabeth. – Estelle Ellis
