A WOMAN convicted of defrauding the Summerstrand post office in Port Elizabeth of nearly R700000 over two years may be forced to pay back every cent.
Irene Meyer, of Gamtoos River Mouth, appeared in the Port Elizabeth Regional Court yesterday where the Asset Forfeiture Unit (AFU) brought an application to seize R90000 in her bank account, her pension fund and her house at Gamtoos.
Her sentencing was postponed because her defence attorney, Paul Roelofse, called in sick.
Meyer, who turns 56 tomorrow, was convicted in April of defrauding the South African Post Office and the Department of Transport of R694352. – Lee-Anne Butler and Riaan Marais
